        The question that parents ask me about more often than any other is regarding spelling.  Please remember that as your child progresses through the developmental stages of writing his/her spelling will get "better."  Our job as adults is to reassure the children as they progress through the stages, encourage them to use the resources around them, and help them to hear the sounds when writing.  Pressuring kids into traditional spelling reduces their confidence, desire and ability to write.  Be patient, your child will be using traditional spelling in no time!
